So a little while ago I was watching a show on tv and noticed that the family in the programme had a chalkboard in their kitchen/dining area. It changed throughout the seasons and altered between general reminders and notes, to birthday signs. There's also @madsgordo on TikTok who's mum is absolutely obsessed with Christmas and decorates the blackboard that's in her kitchen with amazing decorations at Christmas time.
These two things caused me to keep thinking about what I would do if I had one in my house......so I got one, albeit a bit smaller than the ones I've previously seen. I didn't have the budget to build a huge one, and there wasn't really the wall room, so what I did was get an A3 sized blackboard and my wonderful husband screwed it into the wall of the scullery. In hindsight, having it removable would have been useful for redoing it as I have to kneel on the counter, but hey, small speed bump lol.
The first one I did was for Mother's Day, as it was in May that I bought the chalkboard. I have since done designs for both my stepson's birthday as well as my own, a random family one from the end of May until early September when I did a Father's Day one, which stayed up until I did the one in this post for the Christmas season.
I do all the designs by hand, but I google to get ideas of course. I do my best to draw things that look eye catching, and have a range of chalk markers. I'll see if I remember to take a photo of the one I do for New Years, and may even add it here to add in.
Just a little idea that I have added to my scullery to create some joy and excitement around holidays and birthdays.
